University of Georgia junior Robert Tyler was among the Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week as selected by Collegiate Baseball publication.
Tyler struck out a career-high 13 in only five innings as part of a dominating Opening Day performance in beating Georgia Southern. Twelve of the 13 strikeouts by the Eagles were swinging, and he allowed just one hit and one walk in five scoreless frames.
The Bulldogs (2-1) return to action Tuesday at Mercer (3-0) with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. Georgia will be back at Foley Field starting Friday for the Bulldog Invitational, facing South Alabama, Cincinnati and Western Kentucky. The round-robin event features two games a day and one ticket is good for both games each day.
