GAME NOTES
LAST TIME OUT: GEORGIA SOFTBALL CLASSIC
Georgia held its last regular-season tournament over the weekend, going 4-1 at the Georgia Softball Classic. In the five games, the Bulldogs hit .338 with 45 hits while outscoring opponents 36-19 thanks in part to nine home runs. Four Bulldogs who played in all five games hit .300 or better, including Cortni Emanuel who hit .579 for the weekend.
SERIES VS. BOSTON COLLEGE
Georgia and the Eagles have met once before Tuesday’s game, as the Bulldogs won 11-0 in its first home tournament of the 2003 season. Michelle Green, Georgia’s all-time wins and strikeout leader, was a walk away from a perfect game, holding Boston College hitless for the program’s fifth no-hit performance. The Bulldogs put up 10 hits in the contest.
CORTNI GOING STREAKING
Cortni Emanuel has herself some streaks going on, as she has a 14-game hit streak and reached base in all 19 games this season. The hitting streak dates back to the Stetson game in Orlando on Feb. 19, as she has had seven multi-hit games during that span, including three hits in each of the last three games.
BASS GOES DISTANCE IN FIRST COLLEGIATE START
Kylie Bass earned the first start of her collegiate career on Friday against Jacksonville. The Georgia native went the full seven innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 11. Bass had a streak of sitting down eight-consecutive batters, including five by way of strikeout. The lefty finished the weekend with another start against Austin Peay, doing four innings of work with five hits and two strikeouts while giving up her first earned run of the year. With 21 innings thrown this season, the freshman has a 0.33 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
PAIR OF BULLDOGS NOTCH PAIR OF HOME RUNS VS. AUSTIN PEAY
Kaylee Puailoa and Alex Hugo each knocked out a pair of home runs in Georgia’s 17-8 win over Austin Peay. For Puailoa, it was the fourth time in her career that she had two home runs in a game, but the first time since 2014. For Hugo, her home runs came in consecutive at-bats, a feat she had done before as she did so against Florida last April.
PUAILOA HITS GEORGIA’S THIRD GRAND SLAM OF SEASON, RAKING IN RBI
With the home run brigade against Austin Peay, Puailoa notched Georgia’s third grand slam of the season. It was also the third of her career, as she hit one in 2013 against Georgia Tech and one in 2014 versus Alabama. The senior leads the team in 2016 with five home runs so far. With the grand slam, Puailoa had a team-best eight RBI for the weekend, as she has 32 this season, which leads the SEC. The California native now has two games this year with six RBI, first against UAB and last weekend against Austin Peay.
WILKINSON WITH SOLID WEEKEND AT GEORGIA SOFTBALL CLASSIC
Chelsea Wilkinson had a solid weekend in the circle, pitching a team-high 16.2 for a 2-1 record. The senior totaled 24 strikeouts after tossing a season-high 10 against No. 19 Minnesota and nine in a start against Western Carolina. It was Wilkinson’s first double-digit strikeout effort of 2016 and 16th of her career. In game one against the Gophers, Wilkinson made her third appearance in relief to notch the win, holding the visitors to one hit over the last four innings of the game.
