Georgia vs Ole Miss Softball: The 14th-ranked Bulldogs (38-13, 10-9) needed just the third inning to defeat the visiting Rebels (35-16, 9-10) by a score of 8-0 in five innings on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs had 11 hits in the ballgame with seven different Bulldogs contributing to the action. Sydni Emanuel, Tina Iosefa, Alyssa DiCarlo and Samantha LaZear all had two hits respectively, while Alex Hugo, Cortni Emanuel and Lacey Sumerlin each had one.
Chelsea Wilkinson (22-4) pitched four innings in the shutout, delivering five strikeouts and only allowing three hits. Brittany Gray entered in as relief in the top of the fifth, allowing just one baserunner by way of walk.

Both teams struggled to get the bats going for the first two innings, but the Bulldogs found their rhythm in the bottom of the third with help from the small ball. Four out of the five Bulldog batters reached by bunt singles to start the frame while an error allowed Sumerlin to score. Iosefa then pulled out a two-RBI double down the right line followed by DiCarlo with a two-RBI single. With two outs, LaZear and S. Emanuel came back up to record RBI singles, solidifying the 8-0 win.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday with a doubleheader versus the Rebels, closing out the home schedule for the regular season. Game one will begin at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on SEC Network+. Senior Day festivities will take place before first pitch while it will also be the team’s annual pink game for breast cancer awareness.

IMPORTANt UPDATE FOR GEORGIA SOFTBALL SERIES WITH OLE MISS THIS WEEKEND
“The scheduled doubleheader between No. 14 Georgia and Ole Miss has been postponed due to weather in the Athens area.
The teams will resume on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.
The Bulldogs and Rebels were scoreless in the bottom second with Georgia working with one on when rain forced a delay. Lightning was then detected in the area, having the game be held longer. The impending forecast then had the teams postpone the game until Sunday.
