UGA commit Devonte Wyatt is a little-known commit by many fans, but it can be argued that he is one of the Bulldogs most important commits.
 
 

Wyatt is a 300 lb defensive tackle from the state of Georgia and he is the Bulldogs only commit at this position in this recruiting class. He originally was a South Carolina Gamecock commit, but Kirby Smart was able to flip him from the Bulldogs’ SEC East foes. Although the Bulldogs landed four players in this position in their last class, it will be critical for them to continuously restock this position with elite talent.
 
 
Although Wyatt may not have the stars as the players in the previous class at this position may have had, he still is very athletic and displays great speed and agility for his size. Wyatt’s ranking is very variable on many sites, as he is a top 10 defensive tackle and top 300 overall player on some sites, but not even top 30 at his position on other sites.
 
 
I believe Wyatt’s great blend of speed and size could make him a tough battle for offensive lineman and that his ranking may be lower than it should be on certain sites. Wyatt’s frame is comparable to that of Georgia’s Trenton Thompson and if he can improve his technique and add on some more muscle, then he may be able to be as effective as Thompson one day.
 
 
The Bulldogs already have a very young defensive line group, so they may hold off on playing Wyatt right away next season. However, if he gets the system down quickly, then it would not surprise me to see him crack the rotation of the multiple linemen that play. Regardless of if he plays or not next season, he should be a stand-out player in the future.
