Auburn pulled away from Kentucky in the fourth quarter to open its season with a win. However, just as Georgia struggled with Arkansas in the first half, Auburn went to the locker room with just a one point lead (8-7).
The third quarter was more of the same for the Tigers. Be the end of the period, the Plains folk had boosted their lead to 15-13.
The fourth quarter saw Auburn score 14 unanswered points, cruising to a 16 point win. ESPN posted the following take away from the contest:
Auburn: Has to get better on third-down defense, giving up eight first downs on 10 Wildcats attempts in the first half. Receivers Williams and Anthony Schwartz look like the big-play threats the Tigers were expecting, but the running game has a long way to go.
