It is bye week for Georgia fans but for head coach Kirby Smart and the team it is work week. Defensive back J.R. Reed said of the team’s mentality, “It is on to Florida. We have this bye week so we can work on ourselves. We just have to focus on our goals and what we can control.”

Reed, a junior, mentioned that a big part of keeping moral high is making sure that the older players are keeping the younger guys going. “We still have our goals ahead of us and we just have to remind everyone that we can reach those goals,” said Reed.

Reed is taking this week to personally work on his tackling and communication skills. “The secondary has been having way too many busts due to lack of communication this season and I don’t want to have anymore of those,” Reed said about the defense’s failings.

The 50-yard pass play from Joe Burrow to Justin Jefferson came on a busted play against LSU. Reed took the blame saying that it was poor communication on his end.

“It’s just something you find out about yourself,” said about coming off of a loss. “When you have a game like that, you really find out what you’re made of, and you can push yourself, and see how far you can push yourself and really see where you can keep going and what you need to work on.”
