The Bulldogs defense is coming off an impressive performance against one of the SEC’s better offenses, but cornerback Aaron Davis knows the challenges that Tennessee will present especially the Volunteers’ wideouts.

 
 
The Bulldogs will look to avenge the Hail Mary loss they suffered at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers last season, but they are not concerned with looking at the past for motivation. Coach Kirby Smart said they always practice defending the Hail Mary play every Thursday, but they do not use last year’s outcome as motivation for that.
 
 
It was Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings who came down with the game-winning catch and although he will not be playing in this game, Aaron Davis understands the tough test that this receiving corps will give the Bulldogs secondary.
 
 

“Tennessee always has good wideouts, Tennessee, since I’ve been here has been tough and physical wideouts, they have playmakers so we fully expect them to try and go out and put on their best performances,” said Davis. “Just whatever we do, we need to be ready to contain those guys and just do the best job that we can as far as stopping them in the pass game.”

 
 
Kirby Smart commented further on Tennessee’s physical wide receiving corps as he mentioned Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson as both being very good players and complimented Josh Smith on being very physical. Smart has to be pleased with his secondary’s performance against Mississippi State, but he mentioned he still wants them to “continue to improve.”
 
 
The Bulldogs have done a good job on defense so far this season and if they are able to have success against Tennessee’s offense, then they should continue to build their resume as being one of the better defense’s in the country.
