[su_spacer size=”20″] For the third consecutive year, the Atlanta Hawks will hold their training camp at Georgia Basketball’s practice facility adjacent to Stegeman Coliseum. The Hawks will conduct their first three days of official practices next Tuesday-Thursday in Athens.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Hawks have initiated training camp on the UGA campus in each season under Mike Budenholzer, the 2015 NBA Coach of the Year.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia’s $30-million, 120,000-square-foot practice facility opened in 2007 and is one of the largest of its kind in the nation. The Hawks will have access to the adjacent practice gyms of the Georgia men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as the Stegeman Coliseum playing floor.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “I believe it speaks to the quality of this facility that the Hawks come here to start their camp,” head coach Mark Fox said. “We essentially have three courts right here together for them and weight rooms and athletic training facilities. We know this is a first-class facility, and we’re excited we’ve been able to partner with the Hawks and play a small part – a tiny part – in their season.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Atlanta established a franchise record for wins last season, finishing 60-22. Led by 2015 NBA All-Stars Al Horford, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague, the Hawks won a division (Southeast Division) title for the first time since 1993-94 and earned the No. 1 seed for the Eastern Conference in the NBA Playoffs. Atlanta made the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year, the longest active streak in the East.
