The Georgia men’s tennis doubles tandem of Austin Smith and Ben Wagland came in at No. 1 in the country in the latest edition of the ITA rankings released Tuesday.

Smith and Wagland are 9-1 this season with wins against teams ranked Nos. 1, 2, 8, 11, 12, 44 and 47.

In the team rankings, Georgia remained at No. 5. Oklahoma is No. 1 followed by Baylor, Illinois, Duke, Georgia, USC, Texas, Virginia, Texas A&M and TCU to round out the top-10. The Bulldogs (15-2, 7-0) have won nine consecutive matches and are alone atop the SEC standings.

In singles, Nathan Pasha remains Georgia’s highest-ranked player at No. 18, followed by Wayne Montgomery at No. 28 and Austin Smith at No. 31. The Bulldogs have two other ranked doubles teams: Wagland and Paul Oosterbaan are No. 37, while Smith and Eric Diaz are No. 70.

Pasha owns the SEC’s longest singles winning streak with his 10 consecutive victories in completed matches. He also leads the team with 11 dual match wins, while Smith has 10. Montgomery has a team-high 42 combined singles and doubles victories in all matches this season.

Georgia will be back in action Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 17 Vanderbilt.
