Redshirt freshman Azeez Ojulari had 3 tackles and 2 quarterback sacks in Georgia’s 43-14 win over Tennessee on Saturday night. After the game, the outside linebacker met with the media and shared what adjustments the defense made in the second half to hold the Volunteers offense out of the end zone and off the board after Tennessee put up 14 first-half points.
“We came in at half-time and we know we had some little mistakes we made on defense…,” said Ojulari. “We just made sure everyone stayed up and kept their energy up, knowing we still had a whole ball game to finish off, and the next half, we just kept it going.”
“We know we had mistakes in the first half. We just wanted to clean everything up so we played to the standard of Georgia ball,” added Ojulari. “We continued to keep chopping. Keep going. Just keep working. This is an SEC road game. It’s definitely going to be a challenge coming into Knoxville and the crowd, the noise, and everything. Just keep going no matter what.”
Head Coach Kirby Smart had nothing but praise for the redshirt freshman out of Marietta, GA.
“Azeez is a great leader on our team. He was captain for this game. To do that as a freshman is pretty special. He leads the practice. He plays the right way,” said Kirby. “He’s everything you want in a student-athlete. And he’s a credit to his family. They’ve done a great job with him.”
