ATHENS, Ga. – Freshman Adam Goodman pitched five innings of two-run ball to lead the Black team to a 3-2 victory on Saturday in game two of the Fall World Series at Foley Field. The Black squad leads the series 2-0 after a 4-1 win on Tuesday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “Adam Goodman was really good on the mound today,” said head coach Scott Stricklin. “Overall I thought the pitching was good. Kevin Smith threw the ball well, Blakely Brown was very good and it was good to see Addison Albright have a good inning. We had some opportunities to score some more runs, but I thought the pitching and defense won today.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Black team opened the scoring in the top of the third after Skyler Weber’s RBI single knocked in senior Nick King from second. Junior Stephen Wrenn increased the score to 2-0 with a stand-up triple to right field to score Weber. The Red squad threatened in the bottom half after a one-out triple by freshman Logan Moody, but Goodman escaped the jam with a grounder back to the pitcher and a fly out to left.

[su_spacer size=”40″] The Red team notched two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 3-2 after a bases-loaded single by freshman Michael Curry scored Jordan Einstein and Aaron Rzucidlo.

Freshman Addison Albright pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning for the Black team while freshman Blakely Brown tossed 2.1 innings of one-run ball for the Red squad.
