Georgia’s Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin will be part of a panel discussion with Los Angeles Dodgers legend Ransom Jackson at the Ty Cobb Museum in Royston on Saturday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. ET.

 
The event will mark the 19th anniversary of the museum’s opening that honors Cobb, a Royston native who was a part of baseball’s first Hall of Fame class.
 
 
Stricklin, who played five years of professional baseball with Minnesota, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay, recently completed his fourth season directing the Georgia program. Additionally, Bulldog sports broadcaster and writer Loran Smith will participate in the museum’s event.
 
 
Jackson is the author of “Accidental Big Leaguer,” which was released by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers. Jackson will give a presentation of his 10-year career in the Majors and be part of a panel that discusses the changes in the game across eras. He played for the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, and the Cleveland Indians. He played in two Major League Baseball All-Star games and the 1956 World Series.
 
 
Jackson’s unique career highlights including being the last player for the Brooklyn Dodgers to hit a home run at Dodger Stadium, and he was the first player to ever be issued an intentional walk. He retired from baseball in 1959, moved to Athens and enjoyed a successful career in life insurance. Also, Jackson helped start the Athens Boys and Girls Club.
 
 
A light lunch will be will be served courtesy of the Ty Cobb Museum. Space is limited and reservations can be made now. Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance and $25 on the day of the event.
