The 12th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs suffered a tough 8-1 loss Thursday night at Foley Field against the Texas A&M Aggies in Athens Georgia.

“We had a tough time putting anything together. We’re going to have to regroup,” said head coach Scott Strickland.

The Dawgs scored their first and only run in the first inning. Georgia had seven hits on the night and was only able to salvage one run. Cole Wagner had a career high 3-for-4 show tonight and led the Bulldogs.
Nolan Crisp went four innings on the mound and gave up two runs with three hits and one strikeout. Crisp suffered the loss for the Dawgs. Garrett Brown came in as relief and gave up four runs on four hits. Bryce Melear went 2.1 innings giving up two runs and secured three strikeouts. Davis Rokose came in and pitched one scoreless inning. Max DeJong shut the game down for the Dawgs with a scoreless inning and one strikeout.

Ben Anderson put the Dawgs on the board tonight first with an error in the field for the Aggies. Josh McAllister plated Anderson on an infield single accompanied by a throwing error.

In the second, Tory Claunch sent one over the trees in left field for a solo home run to even the game. Texas A&M added on another run in the third to expand their lead. In the fifth, the Aggies found their momentum and plated four runs including a three-run home run by Dylan Rock which extended their lead to 6-1. Later they scored a run in the sixth and one in the eighth.

Georgia will be back in action for game two against the Aggies at 6 p.m. in Athens, Georgia at Foley Field.
