Georgia will host rival Georgia Tech tonight at Foley Field for a 7:02 p.m. start, and the game will be televised by the SEC Network. It will also be available on the Bulldog Sports Network from IMG.
Georgia is 14-19 overall and 4-8 in the SEC. For the second straight week, Georgia will play four games in five days. After the Tech game, Georgia heads to No. 15 Arkansas (25-8, 8-4 SEC) for a SEC series starting Thursday at 7:30 pm EDT. The entire series with the Razorbacks will be available on SEC Network+.
In records dating back to 1950, Georgia leads the series with Tech 118-102. Last year, Georgia went 2-1 against Tech, winning 13-5 in Athens and 3-1 on Tech’s campus while the Yellow Jackets avoided a series sweep by taking the game at Turner Field 6-3 in 10 innings. The teams will square off on Tech’s campus on April 25 and then at SunTrust Park on May 9th. Both teams will approach Tuesday’s game as a staff night for the pitchers. The Bulldogs will start freshman right-hander Zac Kristofak (1-1, 3-43 ERA) while Tech counters with redshirt freshman right-hander Jonathan Hughes (1-1, 4.88 ERA). In his last appearance, Kristofak struck out a career-high six in only 2.2 innings as part of a combined shutout of Missouri 3-0 last Thursday.

Georgia’s Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin played for Tech coach Danny Hall at Kent State from 1991-93 and then Hall gave him his first coaching job as a volunteer coach at Tech from 1998-99. Stricklin would return to Tech from 2002-04 as an assistant under Hall before landing the Kent State job from 2005-13. He is in his fourth season leading the Bulldogs and is 6-7 versus Tech all-time including 4-4 while at Georgia.
The Bulldogs are batting .262 as a team while they have an ERA of 4.65 and a fielding percentage of .954. In SEC action, Georgia owns a .251 batting average, a 5.11 ERA and a .961 fielding percentage.
Freshman SS Cam Shepherd (.321-1-14) has started all 33 games at shortstop and has a team-high 12 multi-hit games including three four-hit games. His .377 average in SEC action ranks among the league leaders. In fact, Georgia’s top three hitters in SEC games are all freshman. Next, its 3B Aaron Schunk who has started 32 games at third base, and owns a .375 average in the SEC. Then, there’s 2B Will Proctor who had made 25 starts and has a .367 SEC average.
Sophomore DH/C Michael Curry (.325-5-31) is taking aim at the team’s Triple Crown after another productive weekend in the Missouri series. A team co-captain, he batted .600 (6-for-10) with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. He has been the team leader in home runs (5) and RBI (31) throughout the season. In the SEC, Curry is batting .340-0-5.
