The No. 24 Georgia baseball (21-7, 7-2) fell to No. 15 Texas A&M (21-8, 3-6) 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Foley Field to conclude the series.

While the loss snaps Georgia’s nine-game winning streak, it claimed the overall series 2-1 against the ranked Aggies.

“Well when you look at the weekend as a whole it was a success,” head coach Scott Stricklin said. “If you win series in this league at the end of the day you’re going to be in a really good spot. Getting a loss is never fun they outplayed us they deserved to win but at the end of the day we won the series and we got to feel good about that.”

Starting pitcher Ryan Webb (1-2) started slow surrendering two runs on three hits to Texas A&M in the first inning putting the team behind early. Despite Georgia’s bats making solid contact all day, Texas A&M pitcher Mitchell Kilkenny pitched a no-hitter up until the fifth inning. The struggle on offense led to the Bulldogs second shutout of the season.

“He was spotting pitches in and out, mixing speed real well, and he just had our number for a couple innings,” Keegan McGovern said. Towards the end, a couple guys got some hits but we didn’t put enough hits together to win.

Coach Stricklin was able to give an update on Pitcher Emerson Hancock’s knee. “Everything is intact with the knee and the ankle is more of the concern. Basically, it’s an ankle bruise and it’s going to be day to day,” said Stricklin.

Georgia has now won six SEC series in a row and hopes to continue its success as it resumes SEC play next weekend against Tennessee. Before the team travels to Knoxville, it will take on Georgia Tech at home Tuesday, April 3rd at 7 p.m. in Athens at Foley Field.
