The Bulldogs (23-5) are coming off their third straight SEC series win including second on the road this season. Georgia took two of three games at Kentucky to improve to 8-3 on the road. Georgia leads the SEC with a 7-2 mark. They remained No. 4 in the latest D1Baseball.com Top 25 poll. Meanwhile, the Tigers (22-6) swept Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Clemson is 13-4 at home including a three-game sweep of then third-ranked North Carolina in early March.
Georgia is averaging 7.1 runs a game with a 2.85 ERA and a .980 fielding percentage. Clemson is averaging 7.3 runs a game with a 3.33 ERA and a .965 fielding percentage. The Bulldogs will send junior right-hander Tim Elliott (3-1, 0.66 ERA) to the mound for his sixth midweek start of the year. The Tigers will counter with senior right-hander Brooks Crawford (1-1, 4.79 ERA).
Georgia will play host to Clemson on April 16 at Foley Field. Georgia swept both meetings last season, winning 6-3 at SRP Park for the Tigers home game in North Augusta, S.C., and then 6-1 in Athens.
The Bulldogs will play a makeup game Wednesday at Kennesaw State at 6 p.m. after the contest scheduled in February was postponed due to rain. Then, the Bulldogs return home for a top five matchup with No. 5 Vanderbilt (22-6, 6-3 SEC) starting Friday. The entire Vanderbilt series is sold out with only UGA student tickets remaining.
