The Bulldogs (20-20, 6-11 SEC) look to sweep the two-game series with Clemson after registering a 3-2 win over the Tigers on their home field on April 7. It would be the first sweep for Georgia over the Tigers since 2009. In records dating back to 1950, the Tigers lead the all-time series 74-52-1. Clemson is 22-18 and comes to town on a five-game winning streak. Georgia is batting .268 with 31 home runs and is 52-for-63 in stolen base attempts. The Bulldogs have a 4.29 ERA and are fielding .971. The Tigers are batting .283 with 22 home runs and 42 stolen bases while posting a 3.62 ERA and a .963 fielding percentage.
Tuesday’s pitching matchup features a staff night for Georgia versus Tiger junior RHP Brody Koerner (4-4, 5.77 ERA). Bulldog senior LHPJared Walsh (3-1, 2.79 ERA) will throw the first one or two innings followed by junior RHP Mike Mancuso (0-1, 3.00 ERA). After the Clemson contest, the Bulldogs will prepare for an SEC road series with Auburn that starts Thursday and ends Saturday. All four of Georgia’s games this week will be featured on the SEC Network.

Clemson went on top 2-1 in the sixth on a pinch-hit RBI-double by Robert Jolly. The Bulldogs tied the game in the eighth on an RBI-single by Trevor Kieboom. Locked at 2-2 in the ninth, Bulldog shortstop Nick King led off and reached on an error by shortstop Eli White. King stole second and went to third on a base hit by Wrenn. Skyler Weber provided the go-ahead sacrifice fly. Freshman Bo Tucker pitched two scoreless innings for his first career win while Jared Cheek pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
[su_spacer size=”40″]Bulldog News and Notes: Bulldog sophomore center fielder Stephen Wrenn (.317-5-21, 20 SB) saw his on base streak end at 38 games this season after going 0-4 in game one of last Saturday’s doubleheader with No. 2 LSU. Wrenn’s 20 stolen bases this year is the most since 2009 when Johnathan Taylor had 23. Two of Georgia’s three runs scored last week came via solo home runs by junior catcher/first baseman Zack Bowers (.266-7-22) and junior shortstop Nick King (282-1-9, 14 SB). Georgia’s leading hitter in SEC action is junior first baseman/DH Daniel Nichols at .300-1-9. Overall, Nichols is batting .307-4-20. Junior RHP David Sosebee (2-1, 1.95 ERA) is returning to form after missing almost a month with a back injury. He began the year as Georgia’s No. 3 starter before being sidelined on March 15. Since getting back to action on April 7, Sosebee has made three relief appearances for a total of 7.2 innings and allowed just two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts. Bulldog ace Robert Tyler (1-0, 3.86 ERA) remains sidelined with a forearm strain. He hasn’t pitched since Feb. 27. The Bulldogs SEC rotation of late has featured junior LHP Ryan Lawlor (4-5, 3.11 ERA) and junior RHP Sean McLaughlin (3-3, 5.06 ERA) with the game three starter varying depending on who has already pitched in the series.
