Tickets are now on sale to attend UGA’s 1st Pitch Banquet at the Classic Center on Friday, Feb. 9 featuring former Major Leaguer Jeff Francoeur and the 2018 Bulldog baseball team.
The highlights of the dinner event include hearing from Francoeur, meeting the 2018 Georgia Bulldogs and coaching staff plus a silent and live auction.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100/person ($75 for former Bulldog baseball players). A table for 10 is $850. The deadline to reserve your seat(s) or table is Feb. 5.
Francouer, a native of Atlanta and graduate of Parkview, enjoyed a 12-year career in Major Leagues. A Gold Glove-winning outfielder, he played in 1,480 games, hit 160 home runs, tallied 698 RBI and batted .261. The 33-year-old Francoeur spent six years with the Atlanta Braves and ultimately played for eight different Major League clubs. He was a first-round draft pick of the Braves in 2002, made his MLB debut in 2005 and his first hit was a three-run home run. After retiring this past season, he spent time as a Braves analyst for FOX Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast. He and his wife, Catie, have two children, Emma Cate and Brayden.
Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin is in his fifth season leading the Bulldogs. Georgia returns 26 veterans including all nine starting position players and have nine newcomers too. The 2018 college baseball season opens Feb. 16.
