[su_spacer size=”20″] From 1987 – 1990, Mo Lewis was force of intensity on the defensive side of the ball for the Bulldawgs. Wearing number 57, it was often the last thing a ball carrier saw before being crushed by the “Mo.” In 1989, Lewis registered 10 sacks which ties him with Justin Houston and Richard Tardits for 12th all time at Georgia. The following year, he led the Dawgs defense in tackles with 119. Over his collegiate career, Lewis totaled 314 tackles, which puts him 12th all time in Georgia history, and 14 sacks which puts him 14th all time in Georgia history.
[su_spacer size=”20″] After UGA, Mo Lewis was drafted in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets at pick number 63. He would go on to play at linebacker for the Jets from 1991-2003 being named to the Pro Bowl 3 times and being selected as an All-Pro twice. Mo would play in 200 games starting all but 1 of those and register 1,231 tackles, 52.5 sacks, 26 forced fumbles and 14 interceptions over his 13 year NFL career. He officially retired from professional football in 2005.
