Bulldawgs To Watch: Georgia vs Marshall 2025

Kirby Smart (HC) – Kirby Smart is entering his 10th season with the Georgia Bulldogs. Cemented as one of the nation’s top coaches, Smart continues to bring a high standard to the program. The 2025 season brings Bulldog fans one of the team’s best home schedules in years. Smart told the media that overall, the team had a good fall camp. In scrimmages, the team achieved game-like situations and came out relatively unscathed from injuries. He stated that the team still has a ways to go, but there were bright spots individually on both sides of the ball.

Zachariah Branch (WR #1) – After last season’s concern with drops, Georgia found one of the highest-rated receivers in the transfer portal: Zachariah Branch. In high school, Branch stood as the top-ranked receiver in the 2023 recruiting class. He spent two years at USC. During his two seasons with the Trojans, Branch totaled 823 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns along with a punt return and a kick return for a touchdown. Known for his speed and special teams ability, Branch has the chance to take over as a leader in the Bulldogs’ receiving corps.

Ellis Robinson IV (CB #1) – Entering his second season with Georgia, Ellis Robinson IV is another one of the nation’s former top recruits. Robinson IV was rated the No. 1 corner in the class of 2024. He appeared in just four games last season but looks to earn a more prominent role in the defense this year. Coach Smart harped on how hard he has worked and his level of competitiveness in practice. Specifically, Smart mentioned his skills in making plays on the ball and how frequently he does so.

Nate Frazier (RB #3) – Entering this season, Nate Frazier may be one of the most exciting names on Georgia fans’ lists. Frazier came in and made a name for himself as a freshman. He worked his way into being a fundamental piece of the Bulldogs’ offense. An additional offseason with Georgia’s strength and conditioning program will have Frazier in physical condition to take the next step. Now, with Trevor Etienne in the pros, Frazier has the chance to expand his role alongside other familiar faces such as Cash Jones, Branson Robinson, Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips Jr., as well as new transfer back Josh McCray.

CJ Allen (LB #3) – CJ Allen, alongside fellow LB Raylen Wilson, was thrown into the fire early in his career. He saw valuable reps as a freshman and performed at a high level during his sophomore campaign. Allen had the second most total tackles (76) on the team last season behind first-round Draft pick Malaki Starks. On top of tackles, Allen recorded four pass deflections and an interception. Entering his third year with Georgia, Allen is paving his way as one of the top linebackers in the country. CBS Sports analyst Mike Renner named Allen his No. 2 linebacker to watch heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, predicting him to be drafted early in the second round.

Gunner Stockton (QB #14) – Although not yet official, Gunner Stockton enters the 2025 season as the presumed head of the Georgia offense. Stockton led the Bulldogs to a win in last season’s SEC championship and had his first chance to start against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Stockton showed promise in both of these outings. Coach Smart said this season he wants to continue to watch Stockton make good decisions. He has grown a substantial amount in regards to IQ, protections and run game.

Xzavier McLeod (DL #94) – Georgia’s defensive line room is open for competition after losing multiple notable talents to the NFL. One name expected to have a continued impact is Xzavier McLeod. McLeod transferred to Georgia last season after one year with South Carolina. He appeared in 11 games last season with one of his best performances coming against Texas in the SEC Championship, recording 1.5 TFLs. Plus, McLeod tallied one QB pressure and a tackle against Notre Dame.
