Georgia’s Jay Litherland won a bronze medal as a member of the United States’ 4×200-meter freestyle relay on Friday at the 17th FINA World Championships at Danube Arena.
Litherland is a rising senior with the UGA men’s swimming and diving team. Swimming the third leg of the relay during Friday’s prelims, he posted a 200-meter freestyle split of 1:47.47 as the Americans qualified seventh in 7:09.66. In the finals, the United States placed third in 7:03.18, trailing only Great Britain’s 7:01.70 and Russia’s 7:02.68.
In the men’s 200-meter breaststroke on Friday, former Bulldog Nicolas Fink came in fifth with a time of 2:08.56.
The swimming portion of the 17th FINA World Championships will continue on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday.
