The Bulldogs struggled offensively to start off the game, but their bench production helped keep them ahead and stay undefeated on the season as they earned a 56-48 victory over Tennessee Tech.
 

Although scoring was more of a group effort, it was freshman Maya Caldwell who helped lead the charge for the Bulldogs as she led the team with 12 points. Stephanie Paul was also a huge contributor for the Bulldogs off of the bench as she finished with 8 points.
 
 
Paul also had an impressive night rebounding the ball as she earned 5 rebounds, which was good enough to be second on the team. The Bulldogs other leading rebounders were Caliya Robinson, with 6, and Mackenzie Engram, with 9.
 
 
While Engram rebounded well, she was one of the surprising players in this game as she struggled for the majority of the game. Engram was 1-8 from the field and finished with 3 points and was subbed out frequently because of foul trouble as she finished with 4.
 
 
This clearly was an off night for Engram as before this game she had scored double-digit points in every game this season. Engram will continue to be one of the Bulldogs top scorers, but head coach Joni Taylor has to be pleased with her team’s depth and the ability to find points off of the bench.
 
 

“I thought our bench played well. Stephanie came in and gave us good minutes, Bianca did as well. They carried us until some of our starters could pick it up in the third and fourth quarter,” said Taylor. “I thought Maya was really good for us. She came in and played really good minutes. Defensively and offensively she executed and Maya’s a kid who can score really well.”

 
 
The talented group of freshman that the Bulldogs have were also very much involved in this game and are a great indicator of the success that this program should be headed for in the very near future. As mentioned earlier, Maya Caldwell led the team in scoring, but Que Morrison was also very much involved for the Bulldogs as she finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
 
 
The main struggle for the Bulldogs in the game was their constant battle with turnovers. This game tied their worst performance in their short season as they finished with 16 turnovers and it is clearly something that they will have to clean up as they head deeper into the season.
 
 
The Bulldogs may not have had the most impressive showing on the night but they continued to fight and their ability to overcome mistakes and walk away with a win shows that they have the potential to have a special season.
