The Georgia Bulldogs took the field in Sanford Stadium today for the 2024 G Day Game. Starting quarterback Carson Beck was given the QB duties for the Red Team. For the Black Team, second-string quarterback Gunner Stockton was under center to begin.

The Red Team was awarded the ball to begin the game. Beck was able to get his squad down the field, but had to settle for three after Peyton Woodring converted a 42 yard field goal attempt.

The Black Team started off their first drive with a 54-yard pass completion from Stockton to wide reciever Anthony Evans III. A few plays later, running back Andrew Paul rushed for 16 yards all the way to the one yard line and later scored to give the Black Team a 7-3 lead with 6:14 remaining in the first quarter.

With 1:02 remaining in the first, freshman defensive back KJ Bolden made his first big play in front of Bulldog fans after making a nice tackle on third-and-one to stop Evans III short of the first down marker, forcing the Black Team to punt.

Transfer running back Trevor Etienne’s first rush as a Bulldog was a 17-yard rush for a first down early in the second quarter. Later that drive, Beck would find wide receiver Dominic Lovett for a 34-yard gain to get the Red Team inside the ten. On third and goal, Beck’s pass was deflected at the line and intercepted by junior Mykel Williams, ending another Red Team drive without a touchdown.

With 6:16 left in the first half, Beck completed a third-down pass to wide receiver Colbie Young for 13 yards and a first down. The next play, tight end Lawson Luckie caught his first pass of the game for 18 yards to get the Red Team inside Black territory. On third and nine, Beck found Lovett again over the middle for a 23-yard completion inside the five. Beck then completed a pass to Young for a touchdown, making the score 10-7 Red Team with 2:22 to go before the break.

The Black Team posed a threat to score before the half after Stockton completed a 21-yard pass to Evans III on the first play of the drive. Smart decided to let Stockton attempt to convert on fourth and nine, but his pass was intercepted by Troy Bowles.

Before the Red Team could create a scoring drive before the break, Beck threw his second interception of the game to CJ Allen at midfield. Stockton completed a few short passes to get his team within field goal range, and kicker Liam Badger converted a 38-yard field goal to make the halftime score 10-10.

The Red Team in the first half was led by Lovett’s 73 receiving yards, along with 20 rushing yards from Etienne. Beck’s stat line was 14-24 for 169 yards, including a touchdown pass and two interceptions. The Black Team was led by Evans III who had 75 yards of his own. Stockton went 10-16 with 115 yards and one interception in the first half.

In the second half, as Smart slowly pulled starters out of the game, neither team was able to move the ball down the field. Late in the third quarter, Stockon switched over to the Red Team to get some reps with some of the offensive starters. The drive was highlighted by a 25-yard run from Paul, but was left with no points.

In the fourth quarter, Beck stepped back in at QB for the Red Team, leading the team down the field for a solid drive that included a fourth down conversion in the red zone and a 31-yard Woodring field goal to make the score 13-10 Red Team.

With 6:54 to go, Stockton was given the opportunity to give the Black Team an answer to the score. On the first play, Stockton completed a deep sideline pass to freshman wide receiver Nitro Tuggle for 32 yards. A few plays later, Stockton found Sacovie White who ran for a 26-yard touchdown, making the score 17-13 Black Team.

Beck and the Red Team had the ball back with just under five minutes left, but was unable to make any plays to advance the ball, resulting in a punt with 3:35 to go.

With 2:30 left, Joseph Jonah-Ajonye sacked Stockton on third down to give the ball back to the Red Team.

With just under two minutes left, Beck’s fourth-down pass was broken up again at the line of scrimmage, ending the drive in a turnover on downs.

Smart decided to let Stockton run the two minute drill, and he was able to drive the Black Team inside the Red ten yard line, leading to a chip shot field goal from Badger to make the score 20-13 Black team.

Beck gave the Red Team a final push, completing a deep pass to Rara Thomas with 33 seconds left inside the 20. Beck then completed a touchdown pass to Lovett in the back corner of the end zone to tie the game at 20.

In the final seconds, Stockton drove the Black Team inside the Red 40 yard line. Badger attempted a long field goal that came up short, ending the game in a 20-20 tie.

You appear to be able to read my thoughts. It’s as though you authored the book on this subject or something. You seem to know so much about it. I think a few graphics could help to emphasise the point a little bit more, but other than that, this is a terrific blog, and I will surely be back.
