The Bulldogs suffered a tough loss in their last game against the Florida Gators, but they got back on track with a 76-68 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
 
 

Georgia was in control for the majority of the game and their ability to stay out of foul trouble and cause turnovers. They caused 11 turnovers and only gave up 6 of their own, this margin definitely had an impact on the outcome of this game.
 
 
There was also a great discrepancy between the amount of free throws taken by each team and that too had a great effect on the game’s outcome. The Bulldogs were given 34 free throw opportunities and connected on 22 of their shots from the charity stripe. However, they gave up way less free throws to the Commodores as they went 4/6 from the free throw line and this difference also had a large effect on the game’s outcome.
 
 

 
 
The Bulldogs relied heavily on their starters in this game and only had 6 total bench points. They were very fortunate that their lack of bench production did not cost them and it is something that they will have to work on if they hope to make a push for the NCAA tournament.
 
 
The reason they were able to pull off the victory was the outstanding play of their starters. Four of the Bulldogs five starters went into double digits in scoring and Yante Maten went over 20 on his own. Maten, who fouled out in the Bulldogs loss to Florida, was able to stay out of foul trouble and only had one on the night. Maten was the Bulldogs leading scorer with 21 but Juwan Parker, JJ Frazier, and Derek Ogbeide also had stellar nights.
 
 
Juwan Parker’s performance was one of the more standout performances of the night because he tied his career high for points in the game with 17. Parker was also one of the Bulldogs leading rebounders on the night as he finished with 6. The man he was tied with was none other than JJ Frazier, which is surprising, to say the least.
 
 
Frazier and Parker are not the most typical guys to lead the Bulldogs in rebounds but their efforts have to have Mark Fox more than pleased. Frazier finished the night with 15 points, with 9 of those points coming off three-pointers,6 rebounds, and five assists. The Bulldogs final double-digit scorer was their big man Derek Ogbeide, who started off very hot.
 
 
Ogbeide went 5-6 on his attempted field goals and finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Ogbeide’s rebound total is underwhelming, but his ability to knock down baskets was crucial in this victory.
 
 

 
 
The Bulldogs have to be pleased to get another big SEC win, but they will need more bench production if they hope to compete against higher ranked teams.
