The eleventh ranked Bulldogs took the loss against the twelfth ranked Florida Gators, 9-1. The first game in the UGA vs UF weekend series brought 1,826 fans into the Jack Turner Stadium to cheer on the Bulldogs. 

Before the first pitch, seniors Shelby Walters, Sydney Chambley, and Madison Kerpics were celebrated, kicking off Senior Weekend at the Turner Stadium. Head Coach Tony Baldwin was really proud of the senior class. He has appreciated their loyalty and hard work. 

The first pitch was at 6:02 pm by Shelby Walters. Walters pitched four innings. Florida Gator, Korbe Otis scored the first run of the game. The Gators were able to sneak in two more runs after this. Dallis Goodnight singled down the left field line, making the first hit for UGA. In the first inning, the Gators were up 3-0. 

The Florida Gators continued to dominate the field. In the fourth inning, Kendra Falby and Ariel Kowalewski scored two more runs off an RBI, hit by Skylar Wallace. By the end of the fourth inning, the Gators were defeating the Bulldogs, 8-0. 

Jaiden Fields homered to left center, putting the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the fifth inning. This was her third homer of the season. The game ended after the fifth inning at the score, 9-1. 

Head Coach Tony Baldwin said the team “got beat in all phases of the game.” He believed there were some good plays made by the Bulldogs, but the Gators kept up their momentum better. Baldwin said he wants to “get [the team] rolling” for this weekend to let the seniors end on a high note.

The Bulldog versus Gator SEC matchup will continue Saturday, April 27. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 am. Prior to the first pitch, Ellie Armistead, Jaiden Fields, Sydney Kuma, and Sara Mosley will be recognized on the field for Senior Weekend.
