DAN LANNING – Defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is the play-caller for one of the most dominant defenses in years. It now appears that his quest to be a head coach is more of a “when,” rather than an “if” question. Now, he will have to outscheme Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who has helped Bryce Young become a Heisman Trophy favorite in just his first season as a starter. If Lanning’s defense slows ‘Bama, expect his head coaching stock to soar.

STETSON BENNETT (QB #13) – It has been a dream season for Bennett, who started the year as the team’s third string quarterback. Now, he leads his 12-0 team into the biggest game of his career. He has improved greatly this season, finishing the season with 21 touchdowns to just five interceptions in nine games started. This is a game where Georgia should utilize Bennett in the running game as well. He has proved he can make plays with his feet and this is the type of game where it could be the difference-maker in a win or a loss.

JAMES COOK (RB #4) – If Georgia wants to beat Alabama, they will need a few splash plays. Nobody on the offense is better equipped for that than James Cook, who has really stood out in his last three games. His game pairs nicely with Zamir White’s power style of running but Georgia needs to give him most of the carries on offense at this point. His hands are also an advantage, so using him in the passing game could help Stetson Bennett settle in if he is rattled to start.

JORDAN DAVIS (DL #99) – Is there a more likeable Georgia player in the last five years than Jordan Davis? He stole the show on his Senior Day by climbing up and directing the Redcoat Band after the game. Against Alabama, all that will matter is his play on the field. He’s the biggest reason why Georgia has the No. 1 ranked run defense in the country and now will have to stop Brian Robinson Jr. and the Alabama run game. Putting Alabama in obvious passing situations would be a tremendous benefit for Georgia’s defense.

NAKOBE DEAN (LB #17) – Dean was recently named a finalist for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation’s best linebacker. He has been the brain of Georgia’s defense and displays a few of the qualities that UGA fans loved so much with Roquan Smith. Dean on Saturday talked about closing the season strong, so he should be ready to face Alabama.

LEWIS CINE (S #16) – Georgia’s defense will face the ultimate test against Alabama. With two star receivers, Georgia’s secondary will not solely be able to rely on the front seven to create pressure. Safety Lewis Cine has made strides this season to get better in coverage, making him one of the best safeties in the SEC. If Cine can make a few plays to take away Alabama’s ability to stretch the field, it will make life a lot easier for the Dawgs.
