Bulldogs To Watch – Georgia vs. Clemson 2024

Travaris Robinson (Safeties/Co-DC) – Robinson joined Coach Smart’s coaching staff this January to take the role of co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. His defensive unit will battle former Georgia offensive line coach Matt Luke, who took the same role at Clemson in December of 2023. Setting the tone with big defensive stops can be a key factor in a big game, so the battle in the trenches and secondary will surely be a key factor in the early minutes for Robinson and his fellow coordinator’s game plan.

Carson Beck (QB #15) – Arguably Georgia’s most anticipated player to watch, the Heisman candidate will certainly have a lot of weight on his shoulders ahead of the opening matchup with Clemson. Beck had a solid 2023 season, passing for nearly 4,000 yards with 24 touchdowns. But after a heartbreaking loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship, he leads his team back to the same venue in Mercedes-Benz Stadium to begin the 2024 campaign. The senior has waited his whole career to lead the Bulldogs to a national championship, so if Beck wants to bring Bulldog Nation its third national title in the last four seasons, he will have to play a great game of football against Dabo Swinney’s Tigers who are eager to take down the Dawgs.

Trevor Etienne (RB #1) – One of Smart’s top pickups from the transfer portal this past offseason, the ex-Florida Gator will be looking to make his mark as the next great Bulldog back. With 2023’s rushing leaders Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton off to the NFL, “ETN” will look to start his success for the Red and Black after a strong 2023 season with over 750 rushing yards in Gainesville. If the Clemson defense stands strong against Beck’s passing attack, Trevor can help Coach Bobo’s offense by mixing in the run to keep the defense honest.

Oscar Delp (TE #4) – One of the biggest departures in recent memory was Brock Bowers leaving for the NFL after the conclusion of last season, which not only took away Georgia’s top offensive weapon, but also a team leader. Delp has the chance to fill the same role this season alongside Beck as a leader and difference maker on the field. After a productive but limited 2023 season, the junior is surely ecstatic to finally get his chance to show Georgia fans who he is and how dangerous he can be in the tight end role. With lots of focus put on Georgia’s backs and top wideouts, look for Delp to create explosive plays that could prove to be difference makers in the game.

Mykell Williams (EDGE #14) – A projected top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Mykell Williams could cause nightmares for Cade Klubnik and Dabo’s offense. The junior defensive end is undoubtedly one of the leaders on Coach Smart’s defense, and after leading the team in sacks last season, his leadership on the field and skills as a prime edge rusher gives him the ability to help his unit control the game. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if Williams has an amazing season in what should be his final season as a Dawg.

Malaki Starks (S #24) – Bulldog Nation will never forget Malaki’s unbelievable interception of Bo Nix as a freshman in the 2022 season opener against Oregon in The Benz, which kicked off the Bulldogs’ undefeated season and put him as a name to watch from then on. Fast forward to the 2024 season opener, and the now junior is a highly touted prospect in the 2025 draft. Malaki Starks will be a key figure in Georgia’s secondary in the Clemson game and beyond. With 52 tackles and three interceptions last season, the safety is looking to continue to prove why he’s one of if not the best safeties in all of college football.

Nazir Stackhouse (DL #78) – One of Bulldog Nation’s most beloved defensive players, Stackhouse embodies what it means to be a Georgia Bulldog. The senior defensive lineman has been a part of both recent national title teams, which gives him a tremendous edge of experience for his fellow defensive linemen heading into the 2024 season. Stackhouse will need to provide leadership in the trenches against Luke’s offensive line and be a force to be reckoned with for Klubnik alongside Williams and Starks. Surely his most memorable moment as a Bulldog is his near pick-six last year in the win over Missouri in Athens. Wouldn’t it be fun if he broke off running for another potential turnover touchdown against these Tigers.

Georgia tennis legend Mikael Pernfors won the first of his back-to-back NCAA singles titles in 1984, defeating Clemson All-American Lawson Duncan at Henry Feild Stadium in the final.

The Bulldogs opened the 2002 SEC title season with a thrilling 31-28 victory over Clemson, as Billy Bennett hit a 43-yard field goal with 5:19 remaining to give Georgia the lead for good.

Behind a splendid performance from All-American Kelly Miller, Andy Landers’ Lady Bulldogs defeated Clemson in the Sweet 16 in Cincinnati en route to the 1999 Final Four.
