Bulldogs To Watch – Georgia vs. Florida 2021

KIRBY SMART – It has been a heck of a year so far for Kirby Smart and his staff, both on and off of the field. Not only are the Bulldogs No. 1 in the AP Poll but also now No. 1 in the recruiting rankings after getting some big commitments this past week. Last year was his first career loss to Dan Mullen, which ended up costing Georgia a chance to play in the SEC Championship. Georgia, led by Smart, obviously wants revenge in a big way on Saturday on the banks of the St. John’s River.

STETSON BENNETT (QB #13) – It sounds like Stetson Bennett will continue to get playing time regardless of the injury status to JT Daniels. Bennett has been excellent for Georgia in the past few weeks, specifically with his efficiency. He is completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and has thrown 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Using the play-action game, Bennett has been able to stretch the field and put the ball in the hands of playmakers. Expect “The Mailman” to play a significant amount of snaps against Florida.

ZAMIR WHITE (RB #3) – White is finally playing to the level that most Georgia fans were hoping for when he committed to UGA. He had a rough string of knee injuries to start his career, but seems to be establishing himself as Georgia’s lead back. White already has seven rushing touchdowns this year and will be facing a Florida defense that gave up 321 rushing yards in its last game. With injuries to Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton, White could be in line for a career-high in carries.

BROCK BOWERS (TE #19) – Bowers was just named to the Mackey Award Tight End of the Week. He emerged early in the season due to injuries to Darnell Washington and John FitzPatrick and has not regressed, even with their returns. Bowers is too fast for linebackers and too physical for corners to guard him. He already has six touchdowns on the year and also leads the team in receiving yards as a true freshman.

JALEN CARTER (DE #88) – Most of the attention for the defensive line has gone to Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt, and after watching them combine for the blocked field goal against Kentucky, how can it not? However, Jalen Carter is working his way towards becoming a star as well. Just a few weeks ago, David Pollack said he believes Carter has the potential to be a top-10 pick in the NFL draft one day. His ability to shed blocks quickly has been on display weekly, with six tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in Georgia’s win over Kentucky.

ADAM ANDERSON (OLB #19) – Anderson is the team leader in sacks with 4.5 so far this year. He has also shot up NFL Draft boards with his unique blend of size and speed off of the edge. Since Florida will use two mobile quarterbacks, the Bulldogs will need Anderson to be active and limit quarterback runs from the Gators.

LEWIS CINE (S #16) – Georgia has been in the middle of the pack nationally in creating turnovers this season. Lewis Cine is a player that can create them through interceptions and forced fumbles. Look for Georgia’s defense to be aggressive against a Florida offense that has been explosive at times.
