Bulldogs To Watch: Georgia vs. UMass 2024

Mike Bobo (OC) – After the brutal 10 game stretch, the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator and his group can take a deep breath ahead of their matchup with UMass. Against the stout Volunteers defense, his offense dialed up an impressive 453 yards of total offense and 31 points. While the offense has faced criticism at times due to their inconsistencies, Bobo has the chance to put up some points yet again this weekend with many different players getting reps. He will likely call a clean, simple game to keep the momentum moving ahead of their likely College Football Playoff appearance following their victory against the Volunteers.

Carson Beck (QB #15) – Coming into last week’s matchup, the spotlight was on Beck and his performance against the Volunteers, as many believed that his performance would be one of the biggest factors in the outcome of the game. He exceeded many fans’ expectations, playing his best game of the year. He threw for 347 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. For the first time in a while, he showed the nation that he is the quarterback that his coaches and fellow teammates know he is. While he will likely not get much playing time against the Minutemen, a few solid drives in the first half could continue to build up his confidence ahead of next week’s Georgia Tech game.

Nate Frazier (RB #3) – The freshman has the chance to put up huge numbers this Saturday. With Trevor Etienne likely to remain sidelined with an injury, Frazier looks to be the lead running back until further notice. He excelled in the starting role against Tennessee, rushing for 68 yards and scoring the game-sealing touchdown in the final minutes. His highest rushing total of the season was all the way back in September against Clemson when he rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Look for Frazier to exceed those numbers against the inferior opponent that UMass presents.

Jalon Walker (LB #11) – Walker has had an amazing junior year, tallying 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Last weekend, the linebacker tied his season-high tackle total with eight, along with a sack of Imaleava. While he will be another Bulldog that might not see a lot of playing time this weekend, he has the ability to be an absolute force on the Minutemen’s offensive attack.

Malaki Starks (DB #24) – Starks is another player that’s played a key role in The Junkyard Dawgs’ success this season. With 51 tackles and one interception on the year, he continues to show the country why he’s one of the most talented defensive backs in the nation. The junior will find himself in a great spot to not only tack on some more tackles to the statline, but even a turnover or two.

KJ Bolden (DB #4) – While he hasn’t been a starter for most of the season, the former five star has had an impressive freshman year with 42 tackles and his first collegiate interception against Mississippi State weeks ago. Bolden will likely play in most defensive snaps this weekend, so look for him to be an impactful part of Georgia’s defensive achievements.

Ellis Robinson IV (DB #1) – Robinson IV is another freshman five star that is trying to prove himself. Unfortunately, he’s had extremely limited playing time to do so. With this favorable matchup with UMass resulting in a lot of players getting quality snaps, Robinson IV could match Bolden’s interception with a takeaway of his own, showing those of Bulldog Nation who are not aware of his talents just how important he will be for this defense in the future.

Richard Seymour, Georgia All-American and NFL Hall of Famer, was a cornerstone on the New England Patriots Super Bowl championship Defensive Lines in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

When the Patriots beat the Rams 13-3 in Atlanta to win the 2019 Super Bowl (2018 season), the lone touchdown in the game was scored by Georgia running back Sony Michel.

Georgia great Dominique Wilkins scored 47 points on 19-of-23 shooting at the Garden in Game 7 of the 1988 NBA Playoffs 2nd round, but the Hawks fell to Larry Bird’s Celtics 118-116.
