Who are the Bulldogs to watch for Georgia’s ninth game of the 2017 college football season, at home versus South Carolina on Saturday, November 4th?
DOMINICK SANDERS (SAF, #24)
This 6-0, 200-pound senior strong safety ranks at the top of Georgia’s all-time leaders in pass interceptions. His career 14th pick against Missouri put him two behind school career leaders Jake Scott and Bacarri Rambo entering the Florida game, and Sanders has now passed Scott in career interception return yards with 329. Sanders and the Bulldog secondary will have to be on point against Gamecock quarterback Jake Bentley on Saturday.
SOLOMON KINDLEY (OG, #66)
Kindley, 6-4, 335 and just a redshirt freshman, has been able to move defenders at his right guard slot and as the Bulldogs move into the final third of their regular season schedule, with an eye on the SEC championship game Dec. 2, the Georgia O-line must continue to shine, starting against the Gamecocks’ capable defensive front this weekend.
ISAAC NAUTA (TE, #18)
An increased use of Georgia’s talented tight end corps could be huge for the Bulldogs as they get ready to move against the Gamecocks this Saturday and then encounter Auburn, Kentucky and state rival Georgia Tech down the stretch. And the powerful Nauta, the 6-4, 246-pound sophomore from Buford, can indeed be a potent weapon when quarterback Jake Fromm drops back to throw the football.
LAMONT GAILLARD (C, #53)
No doubt, Gaillard, along with senior left tackle Isaiah Wynn, is a ringleader of the Bulldogs’ offensive line this season. As mentioned when talking about Solomon Kindley above, the guys up front could be the determining factor in Georgia clinching the SEC East title and getting the opportunity to play in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the conference championship game.
JUWAN TAYLOR (ILB, #44)
With starter Natrez Patrick still serving a four-game suspension Taylor, a 6-1, 220-pound junior from Hollywood, Fla., has stepped into Patrick’s inside linebacker spot and has ably shared playing time with true freshman Monty Rice and senior Reggie Carter, who just returned to the lineup in the Florida game. These Georgia ‘backers must continue to complement tackle leader Roquan Smith as the Bulldogs brace for the strong offensive units that lie ahead.
MEL TUCKER (Defensive Coordinator)
Tucker, following head coach Kirby Smart from the Alabama Crimson Tide to Georgia, has helped mold the Bulldogs’ defense into one of the best stop-em units in the country. And a defense that swarms to the football and takes down opposing running backs and pass receivers with authority will need to be at its best again Saturday against an upset-minded South Carolina team.
