Graduate transfer offensive lineman from the University of Rhode Island, Tyler Catalina, has announced his commitment to the University of Georgia. The 6 foot 6 and 315 lbs lineman visited the Georgia campus in Athens over the weekend. Needless to say, his visit went very well.

Catalina was recruited and signed by the Rams in their 2012 recruiting class out of Wachusett Regional High School in Worcester, Mass playing on the o-line and d-line for the varsity football team where he was a Worcester Telegram & Gazette First-Team selection, Central Mass All Star and named to the Shrine Chowder Bowl All-Star game. He also played baseball, basketball, golf and participated in track and field at Wachusett Regional.
The talented big man has been a 3 year starter for the FCS Rams’ college football team at offensive tackle. As a redshirt freshman in 2013, he started all 12 games at right tackle for the Rams and was moved to left tackle in 2014 for his sophomore season, starting 10 games. Last year, as a junior. Catalina started all 11 games at left tackle. He was also the Rams back up center while starting at tackle.

2014 CAA Football Third Team All-Conference
Tyler picked the Bulldogs over Auburn, Florida and Iowa State, and he will join the Georgia football team along with the rest of the class of 2016 signees over the summer after he graduates from Rhode Island in May. He not only adds experienced depth to a young UGA o-line, but he has the potential to vie for major playing time and even possibly a starting role at either tackle spot. Don’t be surprised if he gets a look at center to provide depth behind Brandon Kublanow.
