OKLAHOMA CITY – Georgia softball student-athletes Cortni Emanuel and Alyssa DiCarlo have been named two of 25 finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.
 
 
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women’s collegiate softball, recognizes the outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female players across the country.
 
 
2018 is the second time Georgia has landed two on the finalist list, the other being 2015 (Alex Hugo, Paige Wilson). Georgia has had six top-25 finalists for the award in the program’s history. Alisa Goler (2009) is Georgia’s lone top-10 finalist.
 
 
Emanuel, who appears as a top-25 finalist for the second-straight season, leads the Bulldogs this season batting .433 while also leading in hits (71) and runs (54). In her senior season, she has swiped 42 bags. It’s the third time in her career she has cracked Georgia’s single-season top-10 list in the category.
 
 
The senior from Missouri City, Texas leads the SEC in hits and stolen bases while ranking second in batting average and third in runs. Emanuel’s hit total ranks third nationally while her 1.15 runs scored per game ranks sixth.
 
 

 
 
DiCarlo, a junior who hails from Glendale, Arizona, is batting .384 while slugging .822. She has driven in 57 runs including knocking 14 doubles and 16 home runs. She has recorded 120 total bases during her junior campaign.
 
 
In the league, DiCarlo ranks second in slugging and third in RBI. She is tied for the league lead in home runs. Her run production ranks fifth in the country while her 16 home runs rank eighth.
 
 
Prior to the start of postseason play, the Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 9 while the Top 3 will be announced May 23. The 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 29.
