Counting down the days till those Georgia Bulldawgs storm Atlanta and the Dome to take on the boys in powder blue, we come to No. 24 in Countdown to Kickoff 2016. And we have not one, not two, but three darn good Dawgs that have donned 24 between the hedges. Two are former players Lindsay Scott and Knowshon Moreno and one current, who dominates the defensive secondary, Dominick Sanders.

 
 
Lindsay Scott played wide receiver for Georgia from 1978-1981 during the Vince Dooley era and was a member of the 1980 National Championship squad. He also has the distinction of being part of one of the legendary calls of the late, great voice of the Bulldawgs, Larry Munson, on what could be argued as one of the most spectacular plays of college football during the 80s.
 
 
Second-ranked Georgia came into the ninth game of the 1980 season undefeated to take on a (6-1) and #20 Florida squad. However, the Bulldawgs found themselves trailing the Gators 21-19 in the 4th quarter in the waning moments of the game and were facing a 3rd and seven backed up near their goal line on the three-yard line. It looked as if they might suffer their first loss of the season when quarterback Buck Belue, dancing around to elude the Gators pass rush, found Scott out on the 25 over the middle, who then turned up the field and began an improbable scamper down the left sideline towards the Florida end zone to give the good guys a win as Munson made the now famous call:
 
 

 
 
It was Lindsay Scott’s only touchdown of his junior season, but it may have been one of his biggest of his college career. Over 4 seasons, Scott had snagged 131 receptions for 2,098 yards and 10 touchdowns. He led the Georgia team in receptions as a freshman in 1978 as well as a sophomore in 1979 and as a senior in 1981. Scott would later go on to be drafted in the first round by the New Orleans Saints and play several years in the NFL.
 
 
Knowshon Moreno was another Georgia great to wear 24. Moreno came to UGA from Belford, N.J. as a member of the 2006 recruiting class for the Bulldawgs. After being redshirted in 2006, he played tailback for Georgia in 2007 and 2008 amassing 2,734 yards on 498 carries and scoring 30 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 53 passes for 645 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those stats land him in the record books which include being the 5th all-time leader in career rushing yards and 6th all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns in school history. Although Moreno only played two years in Athens, he left his mark in the memories of those that saw him run.
 
 

 
 
Dominick Sanders came to Georgia in 2014 and quickly flexed his muscle in the defensive secondary for the Bulldawgs and then Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. His area of the field quickly became a “no-fly zone”, and during his sophomore season last year, he nabbed six balls for interceptions. In two years, the Tucker, Ga native has racked up 9 interceptions, and he looks to add to that total for the 2016 season from his safety spot under new Head Coach Kirby Smart and Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker.
