Bulldawg Illustrated is counting down the days till the Dawgs kick off their college football season in Countdown to Kickoff 2016, and we are down to No. 12 Tavarres King.

 
An early graduate of Habersham Central High School out of Mount Airy, GA where he was one of the state’s top receivers, Tavarres King was a member of Georgia’s 2008 recruiting class, enrolling early in January. He was part of the same recruiting class that bosted another talented receiver in his own right, A.J. Green.
 
 
King would play in 4 games in 2008 before suffering a season ending ankle injury versus Arizona State. After redshirting the remainder of the 08 season, he came back in 2009 to play in 12 games for the Dawgs, starting 9, and as a redshirt sophomore in 2010, he continued to become a bigger part of the Bulldawg’s offense, again playing in 12 games. King would come into his own as a junior and senior in 2011 and 2012 starting 25 of the 28 games he played and hauling in 89 receptions for 1,655 yards and 17 touchdowns.
 
 
During his 5 years in Athens, King became the 3rd all-time leader in TD receptions with 21 and 4th all-time in school history with 2,602 receiving yards. He also recorded the 4th most receiving yards in one season in school history with 950 during his senior season in 2012. He is the all-time leader in school history in receiving yards in a game with 205 vs Michigan State in the 2012 Outback Bowl during the 2011 season.
 
 

 
 
King earned a bachelor degree in social studies in May before the start of the 2012 season, and after his college football career, he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos and is currently with the New York Giants.
