North Shore High School running back Zachary Evans was set to announce his commitment decision on Wednesday between Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M but that has been pushed back per reports from 247Sports Barton Simmons.
“According to a person close to his recruitment, Evans has decided to postpone that decision. Attempts to confirm directly with Evans were not immediately successful but the five-star has deleted his tweet that announced his commitment plan.”

Evans is a 5-foot-11 and 200 lbs five-star RB prospect per 247Sports and per Rivals. He is considered the No. 1 RB for 2020 recruiting class by both services and the No. 1 player from the state of Texas.
The Bulldogs were once considered the leader for Evans, but the senior tailback from the Houston, TX area has had anything but a drama-free recruitment. After North Shore opened the season with a surprising 24-21 loss on the road to Katy, Evans did not play in the Mustang’s next two games. There had been a ton of speculation on the fan message boards and even among media as to why Evans wasn’t playing. Most of those rumors involved some sort of altercation with a member of the North Shore high school coaching staff on the sideline during or after the game with Katy, but whatever happened was handled in-house.
One of the rumors was that Zach Evans was set to commit to UGA early on in September, but the Georgia coaching staff had told him to wait. As with the reasons Evans was held out for a couple of North Shore’s home games, there was no way to confirm this tidbit of information; so, it also remains in the rumor category. But he did put out this cryptic Tweet back on September 20th.
Whatever happened at the beginning of the 2019 Texas High School Football season is now in the rearview mirror. Evans and North Shore have run through their schedule reeling off 12 straight wins after the loss to open the season and will be playing Atascocita in the Conference 6A D1 quarterfinals.
So when Zachary Evans does decide to make his announcement, who will he pick?
LSU seems to be the odds on favorite but do not count out the Aggies. Evans took an official visit to Texas A&M on November 15th.
So what about Georgia?
While anything can happen when it comes to college football recruiting, and as much as the Dawgs’ coaching staff would probably like to add a second running back to the 2020 recruiting class to join 5-star Kendall Milton, I would be surprised if Evans picked the Bulldogs; however, this delay in his decision to announce could be a good sign, especially if Georgia can get Evans on campus for an official visit.
