Daily Dawg Thread 06 October 2019: Could Georgia add a fourth wide receiver to the 2020 class?

So far for the 2020 recruiting class, UGA has three wide receivers committed including Justin RobinsonMarcus Rosemy, and athlete Corey Wren, but could they be looking for a fourth?

Georgia is still recruiting several uncommitted prospects at receiver including Xzavier Henderson and Arian Smith.

The Bulldogs offered Smith back in April of last year. He is rated a 4-star by 247Sports along with ESPN and Rivals. 247 has Smith as the No. 17 WR prospect in the 2020 class while ESPN has him as the No. 11 and Rivals as No. 31. Regardless of his rating or ranking, the 6-foot-1 and 170 lbs Lakeland High School rising senior can flat out fly.

He ran a 10.39-second 100-meter and a 21.01 200-meter over the spring for the Mulberry High School track and field team. Last year, he set a 25-foot and 3.25-inch mark in the long jump. That speed translates to the football field as the Panther’s used him all over the field where he carried the ball 73 times for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.

Back in July, Smith narrowed down his scholarship offers to a top-8 that included Georgia and 5 other SEC programs along with Oklahoma and Florida State.

But a new player has entered the picture. Smith took an unofficial visit to Clemson back on September 7th and the Tigers offered him just a couple of weeks ago on September 23rd. Despite being late to the party and not originally listed among his top schools, Clemson is a school that definitely could be a potential landing spot for Smith; although, 247‘s crystal ball predictions still favor UGA with 83%.

Here are some of Arian Smith‘s highlights.

But if Georgia doesn’t land Arian Smith, 6-foot-3.5 and 180 lbs Xzavier Henderson could be another potential fourth wideout in the Dawgs’ 2020 class. A senior out of Columbus High School in Miami, FL, Henderson was offered by Georgia last December, and he visited the UGA campus in Athens in June.

Henderson hasn’t taken all of his official visits yet, and it looks like the Bulldogs will get one of them as he has scheduled to be Athens for Georgia’s October 19th game versus Kentucky.

Henderson has over 32 offers but has focused on five top-schools that include Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and LSU. He will announce his decision on January 4th at the All-American Game. Of note, Henderson’s older brother, CJ, is a junior defensive back for the Florida Gators.

247Sports rates Henderson a 4-star prospect, the No. 12 WR, the No. 12 player from the state of Florida, and the No. 66 overall player nationally for the 2020 recruiting class. Rivals also rates Henderson as a 4-star prospect and the No. 26 WR but have him as the No. 19 player from the state of Florida and the No. 116 overall player nationally.
