Daily Dawg Thread – 07June2019 – Class Of 2020 3-Star DT Kevon Billingsley – By Matthew Hall

The Georgia Football program sits quite nicely at the present time with its Class of 2020 recruiting class. The Bulldogs currently have 11 overall commitments from players that are soon to wear the “Red and Black” and of which has bolstered the program to possess the #4 overall class in the nation as it relates to Team Class Rankings for the current recruiting cycle. Among those 11 pledges to play for the Dawgs are a few future members of the “Great Wall Of Georgia” of offensive linemen to include 5-Star OT Broderick Jones, 4-Star OT Tate Ratledge, and 4-Star OG Akinola Ogunbiyi. While the success that the Georgia Football coaching staff has had with respect to the offensive line has been remarkable for this year’s class of recruits, the recruiting of members of the defensive side of the line has been nothing less than remarkable in its own right. The Dawgs defensive line members for the Class of 2020 is currently comprised of 4-Star DT Warren Brinson, 4-Star DT Jalen Carter, 4-Star DT Jamil Burroughs, and 4-Star DT Nazir Stackhouse. With those players already in tow and set to arrive in Athens, it would appear that the Dawgs may very well be in line to have another defensive tackle whose name could soon be added to that list. Class of 2020 3-Star DT Kevon Billingsley of Lutheran North High School in St. Louis, Missouri, has recently included the Georgia Football program among his “Top 6” schools of where he may end up bringing his services to.

Billingsley is at this time rated the #46 overall defensive tackle in the country and is the #8 overall player in the state of Missouri for the Class of 2020 per 247Sports Composite Rankings. “The Show-Me State” defensive prospect fits the prototypical build and frame for the position of play standing in at 6-4 and 275 pounds. Even with his size, he exhibits great speed on the edges and gets into the backfield quickly. The Missouri product has great field presence and awareness and has the capability to get after the passer and shut down a running game single-handedly. He further possesses a keen ability to break away from the opponent he is tangled up with and track down the offensive player carrying the ball. He is aggressive, physical, and he plays on the line with a great deal of hype and swagger. His defensive skills and style of play draws eerie similarities to former Georgia Football defensive line standout Trenton Thompson. As a Junior in 2018, Billingsley compiled 65 total tackles (41 Solo Tackles, 24 Assisted Tackles) and 3 sacks. In the previous year of his Sophomore campaign, the 3-Star DT garnered some 39 total tackles (28 Solo Tackles, 11 Assisted Tackles), 3 Sacks, and 1 fumble recovery.

Kevon Billingsley currently holds 20 offers and is underrated as a defensive playmaker for the Class of 2020. Among those programs that have extended an offer to the St. Louis defensive prospect, many of them are from Power 5 programs to include ones from the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Arkansas among others. Should the Georgia Football program come out on top in the end for elite defensive linemen from Missouri, he would be a nice fit and very complimentary with and among the other DT’s that are already committed to the program for the current recruiting cycle. Stay tuned for more updates as this recruiting story develops and other events transpire and unfold in the future. Until that time and as always, Go Dawgs!!!
