McEachern running back lists UGA as one of his top schools.
On Saturday afternoon, Jordon Simmons narrowed down his list of top schools to 10, and the Bulldawgs were on that list. In addition to Georgia, there were 3 other SEC schools Jordan had in his top-10: Arkansas, LSU, and Ole Miss.
Georgia was the first program to offer Simmons a scholarship back in May of 2017. The Bulldawgs’ SEC East rival South Carolina followed suit a short while later. Now, Simmons holds over 20 offers. And if Simmons last name sounds familiar, he is the younger brother of senior Georgia WR Tyler Simmons.
The 5-foot-11 and 180 lbs rising senior is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports as well as Rivals, and while he may not have the size of Buchanan High School’s Kendall Milton or Hogansville, Georgia’s Tank Bigsby, Simmons can flat out fly. He ran a 4.34-second forty at a Michigan State football camp earlier this year after posting a 4.53-second laser timed forty at The Opening Regionals in March. He is also explosive as his nearly 40-inch vertical attests to.
So is there a place for Simmons in the Dawgs’ 2020 recruiting class? With Georgia a favorite to land Milton and potentially flipping someone like Lloyd from South Carolina, one would think he could be a talented Peach State ball carrier that has to end up going elsewhere. However, there is no guarantee UGA flips Lloyd, and Simmons would be an excellent “change-of-pace” RB to Milton who could also be used out of the slot and as a speedy special teamer. Not unlike current Bulldawg RB James Cook.
