NEWS:
Clay Webb is a five star center from Oxford Alabama. He’s 6-3 295 pounds. According to the latest 247Sports Composite rankings, he ranks as the No. 16 overall player, No. 1 OC and No. 1 AL rank. Webb currently holds 12 offers.  He’s been a busy guy this summer as he visited Auburn back on May 19, then attended Alabama’s camp on June 9, Clemson’s camp on June 12, back to Alabama on June 22, then to Clemson on July 27 and Georgia on July 28.
Webb’s recruitment appears to be all Alabama, but don’t count out Georgia yet. I think it’s between Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama.  My gut tells me that he’s coming to Georgia and I’m sticking to that prediction.

Why Georgia’s could be a perfect scenario for Webb:

The first reason why Georgia could be a perfect place for Webb is Lamont Gaillard leaves after this season. Granted the Bulldogs have Jamarree Salyer and Warren Ericson who could fill the role, but Webb could have a perfect opportunity to come in and compete. The Bulldog’s line is still young enough where the five-star could quickly put himself into the mix of things. Georgia loses Kendall Baker as well, so if being a center doesn’t work out, Webb could always play guard. Granted even though there are guys leaving at the perfect time, the Bulldogs will have about 12 offensive linemen returning.

Alabama Scenario:

According to a post about Alabama’s depth chart, the tide has Jonah Williams a rising junior at center. At guard, Alabama’s left side will be open once Webb gets to campus. Ross Pierschbacher and Josh Casher will both graduate after this season, so Webb’s quickest route to playing would be at guard. Granted Williams could leave early leaving that position open, but the Tide still have around 15 returning guys on the offensive line for the 2019 season.

Clemson Scenario:

The Tigers will have around 13 returning offensive linemen returning for the 2019 season. Clemson seems to be the last school on Webb’s list, but I still wanted to list what they brought to the table. According to a post about the Tiger’s depth chart, the Tigers will lose Justin Falcinelli at center this season. Behind him is redshirt junior Gage Cervenka. So Webb could come in and compete like at Georgia. At the guard position, Clemson has juniors John Simpson and Sean Pollard at the one spot. Behind them are freshman Matt Bockhorst and redshirt sophomore Cade Stewart. So the Tigers have a lot of guys there all ready to compete for starting roles.

Where should Webb go?

Now I know that I write for a Georgia Bulldogs publication, but after looking at the projected depth charts and rosters, the Bulldogs seem like the best fit. Webb would have the quickest way to starting because the ones in front of him at center will only have one season under his belt as the backup guy. While at Alabama and Clemson, there are veterans there that’ll be competing for jobs.
Granted there are a lot more that goes into his decision that what I bring up. I expect Webb to make his decision in December until then the Bulldogs need to get him on campus as much as they possibly can. Can Sam Pittman pull off an almost impossible task? Guess we will find out when Webb makes his decision.
