The 6-foot-6 and 240 lbs rising senior has over 34 scholarship offers currently including one from UGA. So what are the chances the Bulldogs can pull a prospect from Henderson, Nevada?
When Matavao announced his top schools back on April 26th, Georgia was one of only two Southeastern Conference programs to be named one of his top-six.

Plus, Matavao took an unofficial visit to Athens to visit the campus and with coaches back in June.

And UGA has had success recruiting nationally under head coach Kirby Smart and his staff, even pulling five-star prospects from out west. The Bulldogs signed athlete and tight end Darnell Washington out of Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of Georgia’s 2020 recruiting class and defensive back Kelee Ringo from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ. There was also wide receiver Jermaine Burton and running back Kendall Milton from the state of California.
Right now, there are two crystal ball predictions over at 247Sports for Matavao split between Oregon and Penn state. Some think Washington is the front runner in this recruiting battle, but UGA has gained some momentum here.
247Sports rates Matavao a four-star prospect, the No. 4 tight end, the No. 1 player from the state of Nevada, and a top-150 recruit nationally for the 2021 recruiting class. Rivals also rates Matavao a four-star prospect at tight end and have him as a top-100 recruit and one of the top-5 tight ends nationally.
Matavao has hauled in over 64 receptions for 1,045 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Liberty Patriots in 21 games the past two seasons at tight end and wide receiver. He also competes in varsity high school basketball. You can watch Moliki Matavao’s most recent 2019 junior season highlights by clicking on the video below.
