Princess Anne High School 2021 defensive back Tony Grimes has been one of the prospective student-athletes that eyes have been on of late due to the fact that he might reclassify for 2020. That was hinging on whether or not the state of Virginia would hold a high school football season this fall due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
On Tuesday, DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell spoke with Grimes’ father Deon Glover who stated:
“This past Friday, we received word that the [Virginia High School League] would be moving forward with Virginia Sports,” his father Deon Glover said. “With that in light, Tony will stay and play his final high school season.”

As it stands now, per Grimes’ father, he will stay classified as a 2021 prospective student-athlete and play his final senior season of high school football. Grimes’ plans to announce his commitment decision this December 1st.
The 6-foot-1 and 185 lbs rising senior will make his final decision from his four top-schools which he revealed back on May 31st and included Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Texas A&M which he selected out of over 41 scholarship offers.
One of the top defensive backs in 2021, 247Sports along with ESPN and Rivals all have Grimes rated a five-star prospect and rank him as the No. 1 cornerback as well as one of the top-15 players overall in the country for 2021.
