Paulding County High School junior Smael Mondon, Jr. was one of several prospective student-athletes visiting Athens and UGA for the Bulldogs’ first home game of the 2019 college football season versus Murray State back on September 7th. Mondon’s visit to UGA back in September wasn’t his first trip to Athens. He also visited the Dawgs back last spring at the end of March.

Just a couple of months later in May, Georgia offered the 6-foot-3 and 215 lbs linebacker.

At the time, Mondon already has 22 scholarship offers and now, he has over 37. His most recent offer coming from the Arkansas Razorbacks this past Thursday on February 20th.
Mondon isn’t rushing his recruitment and you won’t hear or read too much about the talented athlete from Dallas, GA as he doesn’t do the camp circuit and is getting ready to compete in track and field for the Patriots this spring. He’ll also be taking his visits before making a decision. And when will that announcement come?
Most likely sometime in November or December. He could very likely announce on Early Signing Day as he plans to graduate early and be a mid-year enrollee next January at the school of his choice. And whichever program lands Mondon will be getting a no-nonsense, athletic, explosive football player.
247Sports rates Mondon a four-star prospect, the No. 3 OLB, the No. 3 player from the state of Georgia, and the No. 39th recruit overall nationally for 2021. ESPN and Rivals also rate Mondon a four-star prospect and top-100 player in the country.
