The Georgia Football program currently has 7 commitments from players in the Class of 2020 as they most recently added 4-Star CB Jalen Kimber (Texas) and 4-Star OG Akinola Ogunbiyi over the course of the last week or so. Among those 7 future stars set to play “Between The Hedges” in the near future, only one of them plays what many believe to be the most important recruiting area of interest for the Dawgs moving forward: the wide receiver position. Justin Robinson is that lone WR being referenced to herein and he is most certainly a critical addition for the future of the UGA offense moving forward. Robinson is a 4-Star Peach State native out of Eagle’s Landing Christian in McDonough, Georgia. He had an outstanding season as a Junior in 2018-2019 where he accumulated some 748 receiving yards on 34 receptions along with 12 touchdowns. The Dawgs picked up Robinson’s commitment in early March of 2019.

Even with the offensive talent and the great potential that Robinson will in no doubt bring to the football program at the University of Georgia, one wide receiver in a recruiting class is simply just not enough these days to fill the coffers and provide security within a Power 5 school’s depth chart in terms of the air attack. As so, Georgia Football Head Coach Kirby Smart and Wide Receivers Coach Cortez Hankton have thrown out a plethora of irons in the fire (i.e. offers) to some of the nation’s best receivers of the respective class of focus. Perhaps none of these potential recruits is more well-known or as an important of a target as Class of 2020 5-Star WR Julian Fleming out of Catawissa, Pennsylvania.

Fleming has been on Georgia’s radar for some time now as can be exhibited in that the the 5-Star playmaker received an offer from the Dawgs over a year ago in January of 2018. He would later take part in an unofficial visit to Athens in April of the same year. Since then, it would seem that Fleming has simply enjoyed taking part in the recruiting process as well as his Junior season at Southern Columbia High School in which he garnered almost 800 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in only 8 games. He soon thereafter released his Top 6 schools (February of 2019) with Georgia making the cut even though the #1 overall WR in the Class of 2020 (per 247Sports Composite Rankings) has only visited UGA the single time as previously noted above.

Fleming has a good athletic frame and is brawny. His athleticism is not merely limited to the gridiron as he is also a basketball star on the hardcourt and in realm of track and field possessing impressive jumping abilities. He is a major threat on the football field in a variety of different ways to include his speed, good hands, and his aggressiveness, among other traits. The Pennsylvania standout currently holds over 30 offers including ones from Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State among others. Should the Georgia Football program land a commitment from him it would be monumental in terms of the implications and potential for success from an offensive standpoint for the Georgia Bulldogs Football program. Further, and less importantly, landing Fleming would be a huge win in terms of morale for the Dawgs and recruiting after ultimately losing the #1 overall WR in the 2019 class Jadon Haselwood to Oklahoma. In any event, Fleming is expected to take part in an official visit to Athens in the coming months. Whether Georgia will be a program that is in contention in the end for Fleming remains to be seen and one can only hope and wish for such to indeed be the case when that time comes. This recruiting story, like so many others, is one that is to be continued. Until it unfolds, fingers crossed and Go Dawgs!!!
