Today, we take a look ahead to the next recruiting class of 2021 and outside linebacker Barrett Carter. The Bulldawgs offered Carter last month, just one of his 23 offers so far.

The 6-foot-1 and 205 lbs rising junior out of North Gwinnett High School, Suwanee, GA is rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sport and the No. 7 OLB for 2021, the No. 12 player overall from the Peach State. Rivals also rates Carter a 4-star OLB and the No. 4 OLB in the 2021 class, No. 7 player overall from the state of Georgia. Both recruiting services have him as a top-100 prospect nationally.
Carter is athletic with speed and a motor. He has a verified 4.59-second 40 and a 4.22-second shuttle to go along with a 35.60-inch vertical. Those numbers are comparable to one former Bulldawg star and current Chicago Bears’ linebacker, Roquan Smith, when he was at Macon County High School. Carter doesn’t just flash that speed and athleticism in camps. It is on full display on the football field. Last year, as a sophomore for the Bulldogs, Carter had 51 tackles, 7 for a loss, and 3 QB sacks along with an interception. He also plays on offense at RB.
It is still early on in Carter’s recruiting, but he recently took a couple of unofficial visits in June, one to Alabama and one just down the road to Georgia Tech. There are no crystal ball predictions for Carter on 247 yet, but look for the Dawgs to be in the thick of this race.
