Ranchview High School senior Michael Henderson, Jr. took an official visit to UGA for last Saturday’s homecoming game versus Kentucky. The 2020 athlete has been committed to Oklahoma since February 24th, earlier this year but could the Bulldogs potentially flip Henderson from the Sooners?
Henderson told DawgNation:
“ ‘Georgia is in there,’ he said. ‘It is a close race. Georgia is on the 34. It is close.’ ”
“ ‘Georgia and Hartley really started recruiting me heavily in the summer,’ Henderson said. ‘I’d say that was when Georgia began to have a serious shot. From talking to coach [Kirby] Smart and coach Hartley over the summer.’ ”

The 6-foot-3 and 234 athlete has played quarterback on offense as well as some outside linebacker on defense during his high school football career at Ranchview, but for his senior season he has been playing at tight end and out of the slot at wide receiver. Through 7 games, Henderson has 19 receptions for 412 yards and 8 touchdowns along with 27 carries for 191 yards and 6 additional scores.
Which begs the question, what position would Henderson play at the collegiate level?
Remember former Georgia tight end Orson Charles who was part of UGA’s 2009 recruiting class out of Plant High School in Tampa, FL? The 6-foot-3 and 230 Charles hauled in 94 receptions for 1,370 yards and 10 touchdowns during his three years as a Bulldog from 2009-2011. If I’m not mistaken, his 94 catches still have him number one among all Georgia tight ends in school history. Henderson could very much be an Orson Charles type of player at tight end and flex-end.
247Sports rates Henderson a 4-star prospect and the No. 10 athlete in the 2020 recruiting class. Rivals rates Henderson a 3-star prospect at athlete. He has a reported 40-time of 4.49-seconds and Henderson is Chubb-esque in the weight room.
