Head Coach Mike White
On the team’s performance offensively:
“The assist-to-turnover-ratio, the way the ball moved and the connection offensively was at an all-time high. Jacksonville put us in those scenarios with their aggressive pressure. They do a really good job of creating turnovers and I thought for the most part we did a really good job. We grew in that area tonight.”
On the performances of Somto Cyril and Dylan James:
“It just helps you become competitive in your league against these high-level opponents. Like another one we have on Tuesday with a really good Notre Dame team.”
On how important Tuesday’s game will be to create team momentum:
“You want opportunities to find out more about yourselves, opportunities to learn about strengths and weaknesses and to develop, to grow together through wins or losses, right? And we had a couple of those here recently. We had one at Georgia Tech. We’ve got another one here Tuesday, and we’ve played some mids that are pretty good. You know, again, Jacksonville is, I think, going to have a great year. I really do. I think tonight was an outlier for those guys. The way we shot the ball, obviously, won’t happen every night. But quality opponents, just they’re a bunch of different reasons that they can help you.”
On if there is an emphasis on the turnovers:
“Still, we’re still in the turnover conversation, for sure. You know, we had three or four loud ones again today. It’s something we’ll continue to address. What’s the best way to address it? Because you don’t want it to become too mental. It’s like when you go through a free-throw shooting rut. So, as opposed to focusing on how many times we’re coughing the ball up, we’re just focusing on how to prevent them and making solid plays. Meeting passes, facing up, stronger with the ball. And we did a better job of that tonight. Our decisions were better, but we still had some casual catches and some casual passes. We’ve got to continue to improve in that category.”
On the importance of the Notre Dame game:
“Well, we’re hopeful that we’ve got a really good turnout. We’ve got guys that are late on the line, that work every day and play hard between the lines. We’ve got talented guys that are laying out on the floor and diving for loose balls and sharing it with each other and that I think are doing a really good job representing all of us here at Georgia. And we’d be appreciative for a great turnout and give us a chance to play well against a high-level program. I mean, they’re very, very good and extremely well-coached. They’re going to be really prepared. They’re just a solid, solid team and program. And, you know, for us, it’s about the preparation starting tomorrow. It’s about playing well, continuing to get better, and hopefully that puts us in a position to be competitive down the stretch.”
#7 Tyrin Lawrence | Gr. | G
On the perimeter shooting:
“Being able to make perimeter shots just opens up a lot for us. It makes it easy to get into the paint, drive, kick and share it. A lot of those shots went in, so it was good.”
On six players scoring in double figures:
“It’s very important for us to share the ball and for us to get open shots. The more of us that score, the easier it is for us as individuals.”
On playing Notre Dame on Tuesday:
“For sure, it’s definitely exciting to play another power conference team, so I’m excited for the challenge.”
#13 Dylan James | So. | F
On what games like tonight help with:
“I’d say it helped my confidence. I’ve just been working on my shot and waiting for the opportunity to show it off. I think tonight they left me open, so I got the opportunity.”
On the chemistry of the team:
“I think everybody’s just growing into themselves and coming together and feeling each other out. I think as we play more games and the chemistry gets better, we’ll start to play more like we did tonight.”
On the Notre Dame matchup:
“Individually, it’s just another game, but as a team, yes, I would say it’s definitely exciting to go against another great team like that. It’ll be a test for us.”
Up Next:
The Bulldogs will remain in Athens for its next matchup where they will face Notre Dame in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with tipoff set at 7 p.m. ET at Stegeman Coliseum. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
