WBB: Georgia Falls To Colorado State in the San Diego Classic

Despite 20 points from senior guard Asia Avinger, the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team lost to Colorado State, 72-56, Friday in the final game of the San Diego Classic.

• Avinger’s 20 points marked a season high for the Cerritos, California, native.
• Colorado State shot 47 percent, including eight 3-pointers, and committed just eight turnovers in the win.
• Georgia got off to a cold start from the field, hitting just one of its first 10 shots as Colorado State built an 18-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Rams, 20-18, in the second frame thanks to a 7-0 run to close out the half. Still, Georgia trailed 36-24.
• Georgia came within 10 points in the second half and outscored the Rams in the fourth quarter.
• The Lady Bulldogs could not overcome a strong performance from CSU’s Emma Ronsiek’s 24 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists.
