BSB: Robbie Burnett and Ryland Zaborowski have been named First Team All-Americans

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Wednesday that the University of Georgia’s Robbie Burnett and Ryland Zaborowski have been named first-team all-Americans.

A 6-5, 250-pound native of Gilbert, Ariz., Zaborowski led the Bulldogs with a .370 batting average, a .788 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. The graduate designated hitter tallied 17 home runs and 61 RBI in just 45 games. He started 44 contests, including 27 at designated hitter, 16 at first base and one at third base.  In 20 Southeastern Conference (SEC) games, Zaborowski batted .314 with five home runs and 21 RBI. Also, this week, Perfect Game named Zaborowski a First Team All-American.

Burnett, a 5-10, 191-pound outfielder/infielder from Franklinton, N.C., posted a team-best 20 home runs, 66 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 21 hit-by-pitches. He batted .307 with a .693 slugging percentage in 56 games. Burnett made the first team as an outfielder, where he started 35 games for the Bulldogs and posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 39 total chances. Also, he saw action at second base (19 starts) and as a designated hitter this past season. In SEC play, Burnett batted .300 with eight home runs and 30 RBI.

This Bulldog duo helped Georgia go 43-17 (18-12 SEC) and advance to the NCAA Athens Regional as a No. 7 national seed. On Friday, the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings will announce their All-America squads, while D1Baseball and Baseball America will reveal their All-America teams later this month.
