WTEN: Dasha Vidmanova and Anastasiia Lopata listed amongst qualified players for the ITF/WTA Accelerator Program

Dasha Vidmanova

Two Bulldogs in Dasha Vidmanova and Anastasiia Lopata were listed amongst qualified players for the ITF/WTA Accelerator Program, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Friday.

Vidmanova, who finished No. 4 in the ITA Year-End Singles Rankings, was one of five players to qualify for the Accelerator program by ranking. Despite finishing the season ranked No. 30 in the ITA singles list, Lopata’s run to the NCAA National Singles Final propelled her into automatic qualification for the program.

Georgia has now had three players qualify for the Accelerator Program within the first two years since its launch, with former Bulldog Lea Ma serving as one of the inaugural qualified players in 2023.

For qualified players returning to college tennis next season, the Accelerator Program will award three ITF main draw wild cards spots in the form of one W60 and two W40 competitions. Qualifying players who will not return to college will earn five ITF main draw wild cards which include two additional W25 draws.

In singles, Vidmanova earned 26 wins with 15 dual match victories and 13 against ranked opponents before finishing 15-3 in her last 18 leading up to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals. Lopata’s sophomore season saw her record a career-best and team-leading 32 singles wins, where she earned six ranked victories and 15 dual matches before winning 20 of her last 23 matches to cap off the season.
