The 13th-ranked Georgia softball team opens Southeastern Conference play this weekend when the seventh-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols come to Athens. The three-game series begins Friday at 6 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Fan Information and Upcoming Promotions at Jack Turner Stadium
– Tickets can be purchased on GeorgiaDogs.com. All seating is general admission. There is no reserved seating.
– Tickets for tournaments are all-day tickets. One tickets gets a fan into all games that day.
– The primary entrance to Jack Turner Stadium is located at the third base gate. Gates open one hour prior to first pitch or one hour before the first game of the day for home tournaments. Season tickets holders can enter the stadium 90 minutes before first pitch.
– Parking is available in the lot closest to S. Milledge Ave. The back lot is reserved for select season ticket holders.
– All concessions and merchandise transactions will be cashless. The UGA Bookstore has a merchandise shop located under the soccer grandstand.
– The UGA Clear Bag Policy is in effect.

A Look at What’s Ahead
The Bulldogs are back in action for their first home midweek of the season on Wednesday, March 12 when Georgia Southern visits Athens. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. It’ll be Western Wednesday that evening. The first 500 fans receive an LED cowboy hat. The first 100 UGA students will receive free food courtesy of Texas Roadhouse. Kids fifth grade and younger can run the bases after the game.

Let’s Recap
Georgia finished out early season tournament action over the weekend hosting the Bulldog Classic. Georgia defeated Stetson twice, UMBC, and Ohio State before dropping the final game of the tournament to the Buckeyes on Sunday.

Goodwin Paces the Offense
Through the first month of the season, junior Jaydyn Goodwin is having a career year so far. She leads the team with a .429 batting average, .794 slugging, 22 runs, 27 hits, four triples, and 50 total bases and is second on the team with 22 RBI and four home runs. Goodwin has registered the most multi-hit games (8) and tied for most multi-RBI games (7).

Starting Strong
38 of Georgia’s 137 runs (27.7percent) have come in the first inning. The Bulldogs have scored five or more runs in the first inning six times. UGA has pushed a run across in the first inning in 11 games.

Roelling it Back(es)
Lefty pitchers Lilli Backes and Randi Roelling have combined for 70 percent of Georgia’s innings in the circle this season, both registering sub-2.00 ERAs and combining for 12 wins and 76 percent of the staff’s strikeouts.

Bulldogs Have Historic Start to the Season
Georgia’s 14-0 start to the 2025 season is the second-best start in program history. Georgia’s best-ever start was 24-0 in 2002. This season is the seventh time UGA has opened the season 10-0 or better and the first since 2017 (12-0).

BSB: Columbia Visits Athens for Weekend Series

Fifth-ranked Georgia, riding a 12-game winning streak, plays host to Columbia for a three-game series starting Friday at Foley Field.

The Bulldogs (15-1) play host to the Lions Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday’s contest is scheduled for 2 p.m., and Sunday’s game will be a 1 p.m. start.

Georgia is 10-0 at home including posting an 8-4 win over High Point Tuesday and defeating Georgia State 16-10 on Wednesday. This will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Lions. Columbia (1-6) beat Kennesaw State on Opening Day in Kennesaw but has dropped six straight. They lost the next two games to the Owls and then were swept in a four-game road series with No. 11 Oregon.

Georgia is batting .318 with a .581 slugging percentage, a .464 on base percentage and is 23-for-26 in stolen base attempts. Slate Alford, Robbie Burnett and Tre Phelps have reached base safely in all 16 games this season. Phelps has tied his career high with a 10-game hitting streak and had a career-best 4-hit game against Georgia State Wednesday. The Bulldogs sport a 3.94 ERA with 176 strikeouts and 76 walks in 137 innings. Opponents are hitting .222 against the Bulldogs. Twenty-one pitchers have seen action, seven have at least one win, and the innings leader is Leighton Finley (1-0, 4.50 ERA) with 12. The team is fielding .980.

The Lions, who are coached by Brett Boretti, are hitting .217 with a .349 slugging percentage and .308 on base percentage. Sam Miller owns a team-best .323 batting average and Jack Kail has a .519 slugging percentage. Joe Sheets (0-1, 5.00 ERA) was the team’s most effective starter at No. 11 Oregon, tossing five innings of one-run ball. The team has a 12.96 ERA with 46 strikeouts and 52 walks in 58.1 innings. The Lions are fielding .953.

On a related schedule note, on April 15, Georgia battles Georgia Tech at Truist Park (home of the Braves) in the 22nd annual Spring Baseball Classic For Kids to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). The Bulldogs will be the home team, and first pitch will be at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of CHOA. Please note in the event of game cancellation due to inclement weather, this game will not be rescheduled. Refunds will not be provided, and your tickets and/or parking will be a donation and go directly to CHOA.
